We strive to make swimming safe, and enjoyable.

For us, safety is the top priority. Our technology helps prevent accidents and provides peace of mind for swimmers and pool operators alike. We combine cutting-edge innovation with decades of experience to make every swim safer and more enjoyable for swimmers of all ages.

What is SwimEye?

SwimEye is an advanced drowning prevention system for all pools, using cameras with AI-technology to monitor swimmers and detect critical situations in real time.

Why?

In the event of an incident, every second counts.

We combine cutting-edge technology, user-friendly design, and decades of experience to enable fast and reliable response.

Safety Below the Surface – Not Just on Top

SwimEye uses underwater cameras that provide reliable drowning detection with minimal false alarms – even in deeper pools. Ceiling-mounted cameras can be seamlessly integrated into the SwimEye system via SwimEye Assist, providing CCTV functionality and optional people-counting features. The detection system will detect swimmers in distress and raise an alarm which alerts the lifeguards who can visually assess the developing situation in seconds.

GDPR-Compliant and Privacy-Focused

SwimEye is installed locally and operates entirely without cloud connection or external data processing. Real-time images can be anonymized, and all data remain secure and compliant with privacy regulations.

Flexible Alarm Options

Alarms are displayed on-screen and can also be sent via radio, smartwatches, tablets, light towers or smartphones—allowing you to choose the solution that best fits your needs.”

Documentation and Post-Incident Review

Alarm events can be logged and documented for future reference – essential for learning, quality assurance, and investigations. Any storage is encrypted and adopted to privacy laws. Decryption is only for police or authorities in connection with investigations.

Norwegian Innovation – Backed by 20 Years of Expertise

SwimEye has been developed in Norway for over 20 years, is fully compliant with ISO 20380 and delivering exceptionally low false alarm rates. We provide 24/7 technical support, comprehensive training, and proactive system monitoring.

A Drowning Detection System for Any Pool

SwimEye solutions are developed in compliance with ISO 20380:2017 – Public Swimming Pools.
The system acts as a lifeguard support tool, providing “extra eyes” beneath the surface of your pool. It continuously tracks the movements of all swimmers and sends an immediate alert to lifeguards in the event of a serious drowning incident.

SwimEye is a technological aid designed to help lifeguards prevent drownings by reducing reaction times. In addition, we offer SwimEye Assist, which uses ceiling-mounted cameras to improve pool visibility and support accident prevention.

Beyond safety, SwimEye also enhances the quality of lifeguard work by enabling better incident prevention and providing documentation when events occur. Our system combines advanced object recognition software with high-quality hardware.

The SwimEye solution consists of the following components:

Cameras

Our underwater cameras continuously monitor and track the movements of all swimmers in your pool. In addition, SwimEye Assist uses ceiling-mounted cameras to provide enhanced visibility and better control, helping to prevent accidents before they occur.

Detection through AI and Computer Vision

Live video streams are automatically analyzed by our advanced object recognition software. SwimEye uses real-time computer vision algorithms combined with 3D trajectory analysis to continuously track swimmer movements, detecting abnormal motion patterns that may indicate drowning and triggering automated alerts to the supervision system.

When a swimmer remains motionless at the bottom of the pool, the system initiates an early warning countdown — yellow alarm status. If the situation persists, a drowning alarm is immediately sent to lifeguards — red alarm status.

Monitoring & Control Station

When SwimEye’s computer vision system identifies a swimmer in distress at the bottom of the pool, it automatically triggers an alarm to the Monitoring & Control Station for immediate intervention.

Additional alert alternatives

In addition to sending alerts directly to the monitoring and control station, alarms can also be delivered via radio, smartwatches, tablets, light towers or smartphones. You choose the solution that best fits your needs.

Lifeguard Response

Within seconds, lifeguards receive alerts about potential incidents and can see exactly where in the pool the event has occurred on their screen. This provides a solid foundation for the fastest possible response time in drowning emergencies. In the event of a serious drowning incident, SwimEye can warn lifeguards much earlier compared to a pool without this technology.

Examples of projects

SwimEye Installed at Kirkebygden School – Enhanced Safety in New Swimming Facility
SwimEye has recently completed the installation of our advanced drowning detection system at the brand-new swimming facility at Kirkebygden School.
Stavanger Svømmehall – Stavanger, Norway
The Stavanger Svømmehall is where it all began for SwimEye. Our first system was installed here in 2005. It has been a big part of our success story and a proving ground for our computer vision detection system.
Austevollbadet – Storebø, Norway
Drowning detection has been installed in the deep end of this 25m swimming pool, providing lifeguards with extra support in the most challenging part of their pool. SwimEye is perfect for supervision of inflatable play structures and other water play elements, where it is quite simple for a swimmer to become trapped underwater.

What is SwimEye?

SwimEye is an AI-based monitoring system designed to prevent and detect drowning incidents in swimming pools. It uses underwater cameras and advanced image analysis to alert staff about potential emergencies. In addition, through ceiling mounted cameras SwimEye Assist can give pool operators better overview of the pool and better prevention of incidents.

How does the system work?

SwimEye continuously analyzes underwater movement patterns. If a person shows signs of distress (e.g., lack of movement for a certain time), the system sends an alarm to lifeguards or staff via screen, radios, tablets or wrist watches.

Can SwimEye replace lifeguards?

SwimEye is a safety enhancement, not a replacement. It provides an extra layer of protection and reduces the risk of unnoticed accidents. However, use of drowning detection systems can optimize the use of lifeguards.

What types of pools can use SwimEye?

The system can be installed in public swimming facilities, hotel pools, fitness centers, and therapy pools. It works in both indoor and outdoor pools.

How does SwimEye handle privacy?

The system is locally installed at the customers premises. SwimEye does not store personal data or identifiable images. It is fully GDPR-compliant and focuses solely on movement patterns for safety purposes.

What happens if the system triggers a false alarm?

False alarms are rare but possible. The system is designed to minimize them through advanced algorithm training. Staff should always visually verify any alarm.

How quickly can SwimEye detect an emergency?

The system can identify critical situations in less than 15 seconds, giving lifeguards valuable time to respond.

How is SwimEye installed?

Installation is carried out by certified technicians. The process includes mounting underwater cameras, connecting them to the control- and alarming system, and training staff.
